"Unleash Your Creative Exploration"
Artist day Friday 19th July:
This day of the convention is not open to the public, it is a day for the artists working to enjoy, learn, share knowledge and move our ancient craft forwards. We will be holding free seminars, workshops and talks throughout the day. Introducing our first seminar “An introduction to digital drawing” hosted by the very talented Andrew Swarbrick who owns lefthand path tattoo in Christchurch. He is an extremely accomplished painter and tattoo artist. He has won awards, had work published internationally and hosted seminars for many years. We are very excited to have him lead this seminar on digital drawing and it’s application to tattooing.
On this digital art course, you will embark on a transformative journey of creative exploration. You will learn the technical aspects of digital art, including mastering various software tools and techniques to create stunning visual compositions. From understanding color theory and digital painting to manipulating images and creating intricate illustrations, you will gain a solid foundation in the principles of digital art. Additionally, you will delve into the realm of digital design, honing your skills in creating captivating graphics for various media platforms. Alongside technical proficiency, the course will also foster your artistic development. You will learn to express ideas and emotions through visual storytelling, experimenting with different styles and genres. Collaboration and critique exercises will also enrich your learning experience, providing valuable insights for growth. Ultimately, this digital art course will equip you with the skills and confidence to bring your visions to life in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
Wellington Tattoo Convention
Once again at the beautiful Old Dominion Museum, we’ll be welcoming over 100 of the finest tattoo artists from Australasia to the coolest little tattoo show in the world.
In addition to the 100 artists working the weekend, over 20 ‘unplugged’ acts will take to the stage giving you a feast for your ears as well as your eyes! There’s also a pop-up barbershop, body piercing, a cute little retail area and so much more
We’re always amazed by the quality of work on show at the convention, and each year are honored to hand out a selection of trophies to the best artwork produced at the show. A ‘Best of Day’ is on offer each day, with a full tattoo competition taking place Sunday afternoon.
We’ve got everything in place to keep you well-fed with a wonderful curated little food court featuring some of the Wellingtons’ finest food trucks. And for when you get thirsty our friends from Fortune Favours will be making sure the bar is always stocked, and Good Fortune coffee will be on hand for that caffeine hit!
Whether you’re looking to get tattooed, find an artist for your next tattoo, or just enjoy a wonderful day out amongst cool people, the Wellington Tattoo Convention is a perfect event this winter.
ARTISTS
Artists are invited individually by ourselves, but if you wish to get tattooed you will need to contact the artist directly. The Wellington Tattoo Convention does not take bookings for artists. Please be aware, that some artists may take bookings for the event and some may choose to only take appointments on the day (walk-ups) – it is wise to check with your chosen artist beforehand to avoid disappointment.
Each tattooist is hand-picked and individually invited by ourselves, giving you a fantastic opportunity to watch these highly talented artists practice their craft and/or get tattooed yourself.
